The Founders
The founders of Azalea are no strangers to the tattoo industry. Robin Labreche and Dr. Maryam Majdi PhD own and run their own successful tattoo studio.
Robin Labreche
Having over 15 years of experience in the industry, international award winning tattoo artist Robin Labreche has seen all aspects of tattooing; from intricate detailed work done by professionals, to faded shoddily-done work acquired in someone’s kitchen (and everything in between).
Dr. Maryam Majdi, PhD Pharmacology & Therapeutics
Dr. Majdi completed her PhD in Pharmacology and Therapeutics in 2008 from McGill University in Montreal; a portion of which was completed at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
After several years of doing stem cell research in San Diego she moved back to Montreal where shortly after, she left her field to manage and operate their tattoo studio.
“Over the years, both had seen the effects of badly done tattoo removal on their clients, rendering their skin permanently and sometimes horrifically damaged .”
The two saw an increasing demand from their clients seeking cover-ups or ways to remove their existing tattoos:
– a name of an old flame
– a tattoo that was in style years ago
– or even just a badly done tattoo
It didn’t take long before she discovered that Quebec was far behind with the technology that was currently being offered.
She spent several months researching and reading various journal articles in search of the best available technology in laser tattoo removal. The more research she did, the more interested she became in the technology.
She decided that they would not cut corners or settle on a laser because of price or availability. It was clear that many places in Quebec already had.
Her quest came to fruition when she discovered Quanta Systems and the technology they offer.
